AAU Basketball Australia operates as a developmental and competitive platform for young basketball players in Australia. While AAU is an American-based organization, the concept has been adopted in Australia to provide athletes with similar competitive opportunities to those offered in the U.S.
The AAU competition focuses on a fast- paced, physical style of basketball. We believe this approach is crucial for the development of our Pride athletes, pushing them to new levels of competitiveness.
AAU participation helps our trainers see how well athletes apply learned skills in real-game situations.
Each game is a teaching moment where we guide athletes on implementing their skills during gameplay.
Inexperienced coaching can lead to bad habits or misunderstandings of the game. We focus on correcting these early.
Our AAU program gives Pride coaches the chance to correct these habits and reinforce strong fundamentals, ensuring our athletes are equipped to excel both on and off the court.
Pride will be competing in 4 AAU Championships throughout the year, with 2 events in Brisbane and 2 interstate.
Our journey began in Easter 2024 with just one team traveling to Melbourne. Since then, we’ve expanded to four teams at the Brisbane Spring Madness tournament and are now preparing to field ten teams in the January Brisbane Classic.
Through our AAU program, athletes have a seamless transition into Pride Pathways, offering even greater opportunities for development.
